How We Make Money

AskUKEnergy is completely free for consumers to use. We do not charge you anything to compare energy plans, read our guides, or use any feature on this website. We are able to offer this service for free because we earn a commission from energy suppliers when you switch through a link on our site.

When you click through to a supplier and complete a switch, the supplier may pay us a referral fee. This is a standard practice across the UK energy comparison industry and is the same model used by Ofgem-accredited comparison sites. The commission is paid by the supplier, not by you — it does not add anything to your energy bill or affect the tariff price you see.

Crucially, commission rates never influence how we rank or display energy plans. Our comparison results are ordered by cost to the consumer, using tariff data from TheEnergyShop and price cap data from Ofgem. A supplier paying us a higher commission will not appear higher in our results. Our editorial independence is fundamental to the trust our users place in us, and we will never compromise it.

If you have questions about our commercial model, please contact us at [email protected].
